Layne the Track Star and Lucy the Homer Hitter

Well, it was quite a Saturday.  Lucy off to play softball in the Tri Cities and Layne running track in Cheney.  We haven't made it to Lucy's tournaments YET.  Kristin keeps us up to date with Lucy and we can follow on Game Changer (an app).  Lucy hit a home run and this was her celebration as she got to home plate.  Rock Star!!!
Mike and I attended Layne's track meet at Cheney High School. It was big, really big.  40 high schools participated.  It was so organized.  I was impressed!  The weather was great too. The white tent housed the Deer Park team.
I have a relatively new camera.  I tried to take a panorama picture so it would show how large the meet was.  Couldn't figure it out.  I need to watch the video I have that tells me how to do things like that.

Ella is a friend of Layne's.  She is the runner on the left wearing yellow in the picture.  She is fast.

Ella won her race.
Now our Layne.  She is getting ready to run the 1600 meter.  Watch for the yellow jersey.
A few warm up stretches.
And off they go.

4 laps around the track.  Whew!
Two laps to go!

One lap to go and still going strong.
Layne ran in the first heat.  We tried to calculate where she came in overall as the heats continued.  She got 6th out of about 40 girls.  Pretty impressive for her first year running track.  The march to the podium.

I liked all of these pictures and couldn't decide which one to use so I used them all.
Layne is getting her ribbon.  So exciting for us to watch this.

We are so proud of Layne not just because she is a good athlete but because she is also a great person.  That goes for Lucy too.
Mike and I decided to skip our Indian's baseball game to watch Layne run again.  We both agreed that watching Layne was way more fun than going to the game.  We love our grandkids and like to take every opportunity to see them. Now the 800, twice around the track.

Blast off!

Once around and one lap to go.

Another great race.  Layne finished in 9th place literally a split second behind the 8th place runner.  So good. Layne and Lucy are both impressive and they work so hard at whatever they do!  Keep up the good work you two. Grandma and Grandpa love you so much.

Sunshine and Snow with Mike March 2023

Disappointment turned into happiness.  I was suppose to go snowshoeing with some friends and all of them changed their minds the night before we were supposed to go.  I was super sad because after surgery snowshoeing was really the only thing I could do in the snow.  Mike jumped right in and said he would go with me.  We did go a different day and look what we got.  Sunshine and snow.

We didn't need snowshoes.  The trail was really packed down.
Expect the unexpected when you take pictures into the sun.

Lots of colors that we don't see but the camera caught some of them. I bet there are more.
Uphill, uphill!

There was a moose on the trail.  I had read about a moose being in the area and that hikers and snowshoers should be aware.  The moose was there but thankfully we only saw the prints.

Deep moose tracks. You really can't see how deep or big the tracks were.

Almost to our turn around. So glorious! Couldn't have been a better day.

Someone built a snow cave at the cabin.

Untouched snow, so pure!
I decided to built a tiny snowman.  Interesting looking.  Looks like there are two heads.
Mike decided to give it a try.  He put in a lot more effort than I did.
Hard at work!

And the additional effort shows.  I hope someone enjoys our little snowmen.  So so much fun on this day hiking in the winter wonderland that God created for us to enjoy.  Thanks Mike for getting me our of the house.
