Camping Lost Moose Sept 2026

Sometimes things don't work out as planned.  Mike had everything packed up in his truck, including the 4 wheeler in the bed of the truck, the day before we planned to leave.  Jackie, we have a problem.  Mike's truck had a flat tire.  It was Sunday and nothing was open except good ol' Costco.  Off Mike went to see if they would fix the tire quickly.  They said they could make it happen by 6 PM.  Then one other issue arose.  The truck couldn't be lifted with all the things in bed in it.  So home Mike came and unloaded the 4 wheeler, wood, etc.  Then back to Costco!  All Mike's hard work from the days before we left were undone.  When he got home he repacked the truck and we left the next morning still anxious to get to Lost Moose. Here we are!  We made it on Monday afternoon. 

Our campsite was close to  Latour Creek.  Such a gorgeous place.

I really don't like to watch Mike take the 4 wheeler out of the truck bed or put it back in the truck bed. This time I took pictures.

This large rock toward the back of this picture, in the water,  wasn't there last year when we came.  

The creek flooded and ruined all the tent sites.  The flood brought a lot of rocks with it.  The rock in the picture above fell off of this rock formation into the creek. 

All new rocks.  Mike used to put a chair here to pray and study.  Too rocky now. 

Great campsite.

One of the best parts of the trip is always riding the 4 wheeler.  

I wanted to get some fall colors pictures and I got a few.  

I got off the 4 wheeler and walked now and then to stretch my legs and give my back a break.  

Mike looks small compared to the surroundings.

There were rock fields all over. You can follow this rock field all the way to the top of the mountain.  You can't see the rocks in the picture but they are there. 

On top of the world!  God's creation made for the world to enjoy. 

Mike was turning around in a very small area.  I got off the 4 wheeler.  It made me nervous but he always makes those small turns.

This is the place where we met Jeremy and his father last year.  I talked with Jeremy and Mike talked with his dad.  Jeremy was asking me questions about my back surgery and said he had been praying he would meet someone to talk to about surgery.  He had a really bad back and I think he was in his 40's. We had a great conversation and we prayed for his healing.  It was a divine encounter for sure.  I prayed almost every day this last year for his back AND that we would run into him again this year.  We didn't but there is always next year!

Off we go again.  

We got back to the campground and this was going on! There were several of us watching this project.  He had a winch to pull up the ATV and it was a slow process.  We all applauded when he was done.  He was safe thankfully. 

When we got back to the campsite it was discovered we had a flat tire on the 4 wheeler.  God protected us because if it would have happened while we were miles away it wouldn't have been a great situation.  The flat had to happen right before we got into the campsite.  It was a process, for Mike, getting it fixed.

This picture convinced me Mike needed a long poker. He has one now.  They sold them at the campsite. 

Lots of experimenting taking pictures of the stars at 3 AM.  I did add some light to these pictures so the colors stood out.  Colors our eyes can't see but the camera sees, the colors God created in the sky.

The butterflies were back.  Lots of them in the rocks. 

I only found two butterflies this color out of probably 100.  Of course I could have missed some but I really looked. 

Bigfoot is not that sneaky.

Too big! We didn't set anything on fire.  It had rained a bunch days before we got there.

The creator of the world, God, loves us unconditionally!
This was a time to reflect on the beauty of His creation and how much He loves us.

Life with a relationship with God isn't always easy but we know He walks with us through the ups and downs and someday we will spend eternity with Him!  How glorious that will be!!!
