This was a little like going back in time. 3 daughters who all played softball and did it well. Lots of tournaments to watch. We drove to Richland to do it again. This time it was to watch Layne, our granddaughter. Boy, was it fun walking down memory lane thinking of all the softball watching I did when Keri, Kristin and Katie played. The great part is we did not have to be at the field early or get anyone ready to play. This is a bundle of energy you are looking at. Always moving!
Look for the red batting helmet and red shoes. That's Layne!Lucy will be playing softball this year. She plays soccer and takes gymnastics lessons.
Third base for a while. Layne really likes to play first base.
Batter up!
I am wondering if she can see. Her helmet looks like it almost covers her eyes.
Ready to run and steal.
There she goes!
Bat and ball! Love the yellow balls! You can see them in the pictures. It's all about the pictures right?
After two games it was lunch time back at the 5th Wheel. I love the way Justin and Kristin roll. Sandwiches, watermelon, lemonade, veggies. Brooky is Layne's friend.
No rest for Lucy!
Sunscreen time for game number 3.
Great catch Layne!!
Another quick break between games!
Love the look on Layne's face! Not sure what she is looking.
BBQ at the Lathrop pad! Steak, salad, corn on the cob, and Girl Scout cookies.
We played some games. One was monkey in-between, keeping the ball away from the person in the center. It started with Layne, Lucy and me. It grew to everyone. Then we took a short walk.
Lucy is cutting her corn of her cob because she has a loose tooth and can't eat it off the cob. This evening was a highlight for us!
Sunday
Had to get a picture of Layne with the early morning sunglasses on. Coolness.
Layne started a double play and she was so excited. She caught a pop up and threw the ball to first for the double play. We were all so excited but I am not sure the kids knew how cool it was. It was the third out! Kristin overheard a player say, "Let's get a double out again!" Cute!
Did you see me? Yes, we did Layne! A nice slide into home for a run! "I didn't even get my hands dirty!" I guess that is a sliding thing!
Batter up!
More sunscreen!
I never timed it perfectly to get Layne hitting the ball.
Nice stretch Layne. This girl was called safe. We have evidence to the contrary. She was O U T out!
We got to stay right along the Columbia River. I nice view but we weren't there much. We loved our time with Kristin, Justin, Layne and Lucy! Can't wait to do it again. We have watched our children grown into beautiful people and now we get to do the same with our grandchildren. It's Good to be Alive!
