It's raining, it pouring! Yes it was! Pouring rain. My theory was go get coffee instead. After all this wasn't a race we paid for. That didn't work with my daughter Katie. Then I tried, well we don't have to do the whole thing. That didn't work either but I gave it a great try. I have done races in the rain a lot. I remember doing 15 miles before my marathon in the pouring rain. Why do the Turkey Trot in the rain if we didn't have to? We aren't training for anything. Guess what!!!! It stopped raining. Problem solved. One other issue was Katie's outfit. Too much blue she thought. She mentioned looking like a blueberry and I mentioned a smurf. Of course I had to document the outfit. I think her outfit was just fine!!!! Almost Dodger Blue! She looked perfect!
Off we go. I used some of Katie's pictures! This is one of them. Christmas music to start of the Turkey Trot!
Oh what a crowd. I thought it would be a small crowd because of the weather. Wrong!
Mariane, Collette and Colette's daughter!
Mariane, Katie or the blueberry and Jamie!
Well, I look a little blue too!
Only part of the crowd and it was a big one!
HMMMM! How does this relate to Thanksgiving??? Thankful no dinosaurs roam the Earth today maybe?
There was a little holiday confusion in the crowd! Easter is in the spring!
More holiday confusion!!! This was the Turkey Trot not the dinosaur trot.
Well, this was a first and so, so kind! Free, really free cider!
And the crowds gather for the apple cider. Others just took pictures of people getting apple cider. The servers were all in onesies.
So true!
This person got it right. It is the Turkey Trot.
Oh yes! Darth with a pilgrim hat! What could be better?
Lots of turkey hats in the crowd!
We finished and didn't get very wet at all. Just a couple of sprinkles. Katie was right, we needed to just do it and we did!
A raffle to win something. Not sure what. We didn't enter or stay for this.
A little drive through coffee and home to a turkey baking in the oven. Mike usually does the turkey and I do the fixings!
Some relax time for the people and the animals! And it is done!
Mike also does the gravy. I don't eat gravy, never have. Yes, I have made it for others before.
Sweet potatoes and mashed potatoes because you know you have to have both even if it is just two of you. Lots of left overs!
Wow!!! Go for it Gleason!
My plate! I did over indulge on pumpkin pie, whipped cream and homemade cranberry sauce. I had a little more turkey too.
Mike's plate!
And then there is the begging. They know who gives them food and it isn't me. Great dinner. We have a lot to be thankful for in the Gleason household. God has really been changing our lives this last year and we are so thankful for it. It is good. When God is involved it is always good! We don't watch a lot of football these days but we weren't going to miss the Saints and the Falcons game. Steve blocked his punt years ago when the Saints were playing the Falcons. Touchdown Saints!!
Halftime featured an interview with the Gleasons. It was really good.
Thanksgiving was good at the Gleason household. It always is and we never take that for granted. Thankful for life, a full, healthy abundant life and God who takes the reins for us and loves us unconditionally. Nothing better!
