Deer Park vs Riverside, Layne's Softball

This was an exciting one!  Deer Park really needed to beat Riverside.  Riverside had only lost one game. Number 19, Layne, is up! She bats 3rd and got two hits in this game.

Go Layne, get home.  It was a close game until it wasn't.
I tried to get to the opposite side of the field from where we were watching to get this at bat.  I wanted a picture that wasn't the numbers on Layne's back.  I got there and knelt down to position my camera so the fence was not in the picture and boom.  Layne hit the first pitch.  I missed it but got part of her bat swing.  The bases were loaded and she cleared the bases with a double.  Way to go Layne.
Break time.

Go Layne go!
Paige pitching.  She does a great job and she is their only pitcher.  That is a lot of pitching.
Lucy and friends.
The grandparents are super focused!

Game over and Deer Park won!  I heard one of the girls on the team yelling, WE DID IT!  They did do it.
The team picture and a great celebration.

The end.

Layne's Softball, Deer Park vs. Colville

A little pitching practice for Lucy when I got to Layne's game.

Kristin was catching as she did many years ago.  I bet she didn't think I would put this picture on my blog.  Be careful about how you pose when I have the camera.
Ready, set and go!

It is hard to get a picture of Layne batting because I have to go on the other side of the field from where we are watching and position the camera through the fence.
Or don't position the camera through the fence and have Layne be blurry and the fence be in focus.
Batter up!

Run Layne run!

Friends!!!

This was a victory for the Deer Park team!  Nothing better than watching our grandkids be successful in whatever they chose to do!!!  We love you Layne!

Spring Dash 2022, The Tradition Continues!

Finally, we are doing this beautiful event again in the real world.  The tradition continues with Sheila!
It was beautiful but cold.  After a couple pictures we headed to the car to wait for the start.  Another tradition is getting to the Spring Dash way too early. Some day we will remember that we do that every year.

Wild animals!
And here we are! Packets are picked up and we are headed to the car to be warm and wait.
Same scenery different year!

Well, that's an announcement and a first.
The long and winding road on the highway.
Girl Scout cookies were available at the turn around.  Yum!!!

These girls were looking at their phones until they saw me taking pictures.  That perked them up for sure.  Not the best support crew. In their defense I am sure they were done sitting in the cold!  We were no longer cold because we were moving.
Bunnies.  This was a first.

Lake Coeur d Alene is beautiful!!!!

Wow, just wow!  That is one big house.
This is a fake wild animal, it never moves year after year.
There are so many beautiful homes along the course.
We are on the home stretch.  Mile 5 is coming to an end! Bloomsday is next!
We crossed the finish line in fine style and headed right to the bakery as we always do.  It was so good to do this in person.  It is one of my favorite events.  A great distance, beautiful scenery with a great friend.
