Before Easton's game and while Ryland and Easton were in school there was a trip to the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs. Boy did I learn a lot. The athletes have everything they need right here. Workout facilities, a cafeteria where all the food is labeled and measured for calories, fat, vitamins etc.
My new hobby!!!! This reminded me of the song, He's Got the Whole World in His hands!!!
Maybe a future Olympian?
You can see Pike's Peak in the distance.
Of course I couldn't get a picture of this whole gym. If any of the athletes were working out, no picture. It was huge!
The athletes that do shooting are so, so good. Well, we knew that or they wouldn't be here.
The Olympic torch used to light the big one was behind the glass so it's hard to see it. My guess is this might have been used at one time but I am sure they don't pull this for the Olympics.
Gold, Silver and Bronze!
We are standing at the far end of the shooting range. There are little dots on the targets way down there the athletes need to hit and they do!!
This is someones stats for shooting. Not sure exactly what they mean but our guide did say this person needs to improve some.
Boxing! We were fortunate enough to get a picture with the boxing coach. He had a cool Irish accent.
This is the boxing mascot!
Wrestling
Basketball!
Amazing pool!!
AHHH the memories. This apparatus caused the beginning of my knee surgeries.
I tore my ALC on this beast. My spotter didn't spot me correctly. One foot on the beam and the other hit the floor. A knee twist. I really had no business in a gymnastics class when I was at Eastern WA University. I was not and am not a gymnast. It was the only class that fit in my schedule. I did get my degree in physical education even though I had this mishap.
Our guide had us stand on the mat to see how bouncy it was. Very bouncy. The mat isn't as big as it seems on television.
If you look through the ring and look right above the words WE TRAIN HERE you will see where the torch is ignited during the Olympics.
They say everyone buys something at the Olympic store. I didn't disappoint. Thanks Doolittles for a great time. It was a special visit! The End until next time!!!
