Thanksgiving Day Turkey Trot 2024

A Thanksgiving tradition resurrected? Perhaps.  3 miles before eating a Thanksgiving dinner is a pretty good idea! Manito Park was dressed with all the fall colors.

Everyone was mingling before the start, some in costume!

The crowd kept growing and growing!

Kids and leaf piles are a perfect match. 

This was a great way to start Thanksgiving Day!  It wasn't bitter cold and that was a plus.  The weather was great.  I think I will be back next year!

Belated Birthday Dinner

Mike had a minor surgery on his knee right around the time of my birthday.  We planned on celebrating later.  I personally feel like every birthday should be celebrated to it's fullest.  God has given you another year to live life.  It took a while to get to the celebrating but we did it.  Mike took me to the Safari Room in Spokane.  It has been a favorite place for us to go.  We don't go out often but when we do this is the first place we think of.  

Not sure what the cheesy smile was all about.  

We had a great dinner and Mike suggested we go to Manito Park and check out the flowers.  Beautiful and a great idea!   We walked all through the flower garden.

Turkey Trot 2014

Another Turkey Trot at Manito park in the books.  A lot more people this year because the weather was unusually warm.  It had been cold so the pond was a bit frozen.  

 The ducks could walk on the pond.  The edges were not frozen so ducks only.

 Ken joined us this year.  Wonderfully nice person!  Ken, Cheryl, Jackie!

 We were trying to figure out how many years we have done the Turkey Trot but couldn't come up with a number.  A long time Thanksgiving tradition will have to do!

 The coloring on this dog was very different.  It is really cool or really ugly?  I lean toward cool.

 The feather girls. You can hardly see the feathers because the hill behind is the same color.

We wondered why the green mustaches.  It isn't St. Patrick's Day.  As I loaded the pictures I saw their shirts and numbers.  It was a virtual race they were doing.

 Cranberries, Pumpkin Pie and a couple of turkeys.

 After the Turkey Trot there was some sort of raffle.  We didn't stay for that because coffee was on the agenda.  Another tradition but...I didn't get a coffee picture.  WHAT!  These things happen.  I enjoyed my time with Cheryl and meeting Ken.  It was a great way to start a perfect Thanksgiving Day.  

Remember when I said that only ducks should be on the pond?  I didn't hang around to see the ice crack and these kids getting wet.  The pond isn't deep but the water is cold.

 Goodbye for this year!  Let the tradition continue for next year.

Saturday Morning at Manito Park

Fall in Spokane!  Beautiful!  Cheryl and I enjoyed a nice walk through the park and some beautiful fall weather.  Seems like when we have a chance to get together there is never enough time!  Even after a couple of hours we are still not done.  We need to get together more often.  It was a perfect way to start a Saturday.

We were a little fascinated with this group in their white shirts.  Wonder what they were doing?  Pictures?  Just another great view of fall in Spokane!
