Philippine 4:8
And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise.
There were a lot of things worthy of praise on this boat ride.
We had never heard of Stehekin and we didn't know that Lake Chelan was 25 miles long. This would be a great trip and a way to see new sights. The only way to get to the small area called Stehekin is by boat or...
by plane. We chose the Lady Express to take our journey to see the lake and its landscape. Off we go. The Lady of the Lake 2 is behind us. To take that boat we would not be back to Chelan until 6 PM. We had less time in Stehekin but we got back to Chelan and had time to walk around a bit taking the Express.
A little jet ski fun in the boat's wake.
There are lots of scenery pictures in this post that speak for themselves. God is great, greater than we can understand. He loves us and we know that in so many ways. This is one of them. God created this and we get to enjoy it. It is peaceful and beautiful. Worthy of praise!
I found a waterfall!
We had some company!
There was evidence of the summer fires everywhere.
Way up on the lake, a home.
Sad to see this all burnt up but I know God will restore it quickly!
A couple of hours on the boat and we arrived at Stehekin. The only way to get anything to Stehekin is by boat or plane. Building materials, cars, supplies! You have to plan ahead to live here.
That is not Mike. It is a random stranger walking down the path to the falls. You can see the falls in this picture.
Huge! See the people below. That gives you a frame of reference to the size of the falls. I think it was around 360 feet.
Majestic would be a good word for this view! Thanking God for this view would be a good thing to do! I did!
Headed back to the bus.
We saw a lot of uprooted trees. Not sure how old this one is. We had a huge windstorm last fall that did a lot of damage in our area. We still see things like this in Spokane.
We made a quick stop so I could take a picture of the school house. It doesn't function as a school house now.
The bakery has a reputation. A really good one. We stopped here but had to get on the bus quickly to get back to the boat on time. No sitting and enjoying our pastry.
Back to the bus. A cookie for me and some sort of fruit pastry for Mike!
Headed back to Chelan!
This is one of the ways to get things to Stehekin, a barge.
Almost back. It was about a 6 hour trip. Such a unique area. We learned a lot about Lake Chelan. Interesting fact...If you stood on top of Pyramid Peak (8,245 ft.) overlooking Lake Chelan and walked three miles straight out (impossible) then looked down to Lucerne Basin, you would be looking at the deepest gorge in North America (8,631 ft.). Deeper than the Grand Canyon and Kings Canyon. The water makes it hard to visualize.
The Lady Express is docked and our feet are on land. We have been to Chelan before but decided to spend a few minutes walking around.
Some of these are blurry. This tree had dates labeling different events in time.
2016 it is in a museum in Chelan.
Back to Winthrop for something to eat. We tried this pizza place on the outskirts of town. It was OK.
We ate dinner on the back porch of our cabin.
Where's Waldo? Can you see Mike in this picture?
The view from the back of our cabin. Perfect place to stay.
After a long day some relaxing was in order. I tried the hot tub later in the week but I don't get how sitting in water that is 100 degrees is a good thing. Mike loves it!
I think my faith becomes better, greater, renewed when I go to places like this. There is a peace you find in nature that comes from God. Thank you God for a great day!
