Glacier National Park, Adventure Friday! Kintla Lake

Day two and it is raining hard.  What do you do on a rainy day in Glacier?  Well, drive to a lake on dirt roads of course.  Mike loves to talk fishing.  In our RV park he met Matt.  Matt and his wife come to Glacier for a month every summer.  They fish.  And fish and fish.  Matt told Mike about Lake Kintla.  It is out of the way and not many people go there.  Lots of fish to catch.  Well, if you ask me there are a lot of fish because once you drive to it you will never want to drive to it again.  Matt mentioned part of the drive was on a dirt road.  He should have used the words primitive road that narrows as you get close to the lake.  Really primitive. with lots of bumps. It was not a nice dirt road with gravel! I was all for going and checking it out to go on record.  I had no idea what I was getting into.  Mike didn't either.  Off we go! 52 miles that took over 3 hours!  Seriously, over 3 hours to go 52 miles.
There was some unique scenery along the way! Not a meadow, it's a fen!

We have now hit the dirt roads with a little river along side of the road.  Roads aren't too bad yet.  Muddy for sure but wide and graded.  That didn't last.  Or first destination is Polebridge.  Not really a town more of a place.
And we have arrived at Polebridge! Polebridge was about 2 blocks long.  There may have been more somewhere but I wasn't going to try and discover the more.
A bench to sit on with the bears.
One store!

A bathroom.
A bar or restaurant, not sure which it was.  Maybe both!
Some cabins.
I did not see Elvis.  I left disappointed.
Oh, the mud on the truck got worse but once we got started we were going to complete our mission.  No turning back.
Here we go to Lake Kintla.

This was a person's house. It is way far away from civilization.
The road is starting to narrow and curve more.
I love this! Old cabins from the late 1800's.
Obviously someone is keeping them restored.

This road looks so smooth.  Washboard at times, too many times.  It wasn't smooth and here come the blind corners. We saw 4 cars coming down when we were going up.
Blind!
We made it.  The rain obscured our view but it was a beautiful spot.

Mike and Lake Kintla!
The way back was the same.  Washboard, mud and rain.  It was so nice when we got on a paved road. We did make it back a little faster.  We didn't stop to look at anything.  Now the mission was to find a car wash so Mike could wash his truck.  The inside was pretty icky too.
Mike found a place to wash his truck and took off to wash his it while I cooked dinner.  Chili and corn on the cob for dinner.  I would say that this day was an adventure.  An adventure always has an element of fun doesn't it? It was an adventure for sure.
