Here we are! It had been awhile since I had been to New Orleans to visit the Gleasons. Knee surgeries and timing kept me in Spokane when Mike went to visit.
It was unusually cold in New Orleans and the expert fire builder got to work. Michel does not like cold weather at all!
A masterpiece!
Of course splitting the wood for kindling is essential. Blurry because Mike was moving.
Family fire time! See that Rubik's Cube in Michel's hand? She constantly practiced and got it completed in under 2 minutes. It was pretty impressive. I do not have the patience for that.
We were very fortunate to be able to watch Rivers play basketball. Saturday was a practice day!
Michel joined in. She is a great athlete!
Not sure if this shot made it in the basket. It doesn't look like it.
At the end of the practice the kids play the parents. So fun for the them!
Mike got the idea to make his first gumbo. We went to a very special meat store that had all the fixings. The meat they sold is very different from the meat Safeway in Spokane sells.
Read these!
The whole thing and we saw them so we know it was true.
Rivers got a new toy. Army men. These kept him busy for at least and hour. All set up in a certain way. He checked out every one to see what they looked like.
Bottle opening, it takes two.
Here we go. Mike's first gumbo.
He loves cooking!
Frog legs!
There is the cube again!
Football and scotch! I guess they go together!
Miles and his dad came over to watch the football game. Snuggles!
The finished product! Andouille sausage, shrimp and frog legs made up the meat. It was a hit all around and Mike got a lot of complements on his first attempt!
Well, this was a celebration. A celebration for beating her time completing the Rubik's cube. Michel was pretty excited! She just all of a sudden laid down on the floor shouting for joy!
A little reading time! The eagle wasn't reading.
A great start to a fun trip.
