Happy Birthday Katie, Coeur d Alene 1/2 Marathon

Katie decided to celebrate her 38th birthday by running 13.1 miles in Coeur d Alene, Idaho.  Bonus for us because we got to celebrate with her.  The start of the race wasn't eventful.  The runners just started when they wanted to.  Each athlete had an assigned time but no line up at the start line, no announcer.  Just ready, set, run! I am sure most of the runners started at their assigned times.
Here she goes!   She was a little nervous when she started but her training paid off for sure.

I hung out with her boyfriend, Chris.  He was a good navigator to get us places along the route so we could see how she was doing!  Chris was prepared with anything she might need.

We waited at the finish area.  Chris got Katie all the finishing snacks she wanted and he added some birthday balloons and flowers.
Here she comes on the home stretch!

She is still smiling and talking with us!
I talked with the announcer and told him it was her 38th birthday. When Katie crossed the finish line he not only said her name he also gave a shout out for the birthday girl.  He said even though I told him her age he wouldn't mention it.  Not sure why!
The finish!  Katie Fuller celebrating her 38th birthday!!!!

She had cheerleaders along the way and they were there at the finish.  Katie Stone was one of them.

And she did it.  Smiling and successful.  Katie you rocked it.  13.1 miles is a long way and you should celebrate in a big way!  Oh wait, we will!
The official medal ceremony with Chris.
Proud of you Katie!  What a way to celebrate year 38!

Here comes the celebration! Barbecued hamburgers, watermelon, and corn on the cob.  Oh, can't forget the requested mint, chocolate chip ice cream cake!  The Mike and Katie traditional whiskey shot happened. I do not partake in that.  Neither did Chris.

It was great to be able to celebrate Katie at home in Spokane and to meet Chris.  Love you Katie and I am so proud to be your mom.

Lucy is Epic, Softball

In May we headed to the Richland, WA to watch Lucy play softball.  Her team's name is Epic and she is epic. Got some great actions shots of Lucy.
A progression of an at bat.

She smacked the ball and it is a base hit.
Run Lucy!
Here are some action shots!

Lucy had a chance to pitch.  She did great.  We had the dogs and no dogs allowed in the park.  We were far away but I had a great lens on my camera.  I was able to get some decent shots of her pitching.

This is a picture from Kristin, a different game.
We had a great time and Lucy was exhausted.  She played several games.  So fun to come and be part of her softball experience.  We love you Lucy
