Snowshoe Mt. Spokane Lower Kit Carson Loop

Another great snowshoe exercise adventure. This time on Mt. Spokane.
Tina (the photographer) was with us and we decided to try some of the trails she knew instead of going on the big road.
Over the river and through the woods.  There is a creek under the bridge.
Don't step on one of your snowshoes with the other one or you may end up in the creek.

Step by step carefully since it was our first time to cross a bridge.
We hiked up this trail for awhile and Tina discovered it was the wrong way.  We tried another way on the trail and were confronted with a big log we had to cross.  That wasn't going to work so we headed back to the original plan to stay on the road and hike to the cabin. So much better.  Some of the trails we tried were better for those that were hiking without snowshoes.  I bit narrow for our snowshoes.
And we made it!  No fire in the wood stove on this day.
We sat and had some snacks.  Food is always associated with our adventures.
Now the trek back to the car.  About 1.5 miles to go and it is mostly downhill.
Of course we had to take our group photo.

Always smiling no matter what the adventure.
It had been foggy in Spokane for weeks.  We got to see some blue sky and sun!
I love being out in nature on these snowy days.  When you are snowshoeing you don't feel cold and it is just so enjoyable.  It's good to stop once in awhile and look at what God created just for you!  For all of us!!!

Missile Site Snowshoeing Park

Sheila and I decided to try a new snowshoe trail.  The Missile Site Snowshoe Trail in Deer Park.
As you can see there is a nice path for snowshoes.  That didn't last. It was a beautiful day.  Temperature was just right and it was mostly sunny.
Sheila!

HMMM?  Where is the snowshoe path.  It is a lot harder to carve a path than to just go on one already established.  We did it though.  I would say the first mile we had a great snowshoe path.  After that we were on our own making our own path.  You are welcome for all of those that come after us.
We had one other issue.  Horses had been on the snowshoe path.  That made for some uneven trail blazing.
We did do a mile more than we had planned but that is how we roll.  We did 3.5 miles instead of 2.5.  We missed a turn.
It was a great snowshoe adventure.  It is good to get outside and be active in the winter and to try something new.  We will be back.

Frostbite Run, Deer Park

This Frostbite run was a fundraiser for the Deer Park High School cross country teams.  We jumped on board and did the 1 mile run!  We walked.  Kristin joined us and seemed happy that we decided to do the 1 mile and not the 5K.
Layne of course did the 5K.  We were finishing when she started.
A friendly wave from Layne, the cross country runner.

We waited around for Layne to finish. Ha!  We didn't have to wait long.

She got 1st place overall for the women.  She is still not cooperating for pictures although she had just finished.
We just had to take this picture because we got awards too.  Mike got first in his age group for men.  I got second in mine and so did Kristin.  We rocked the one mile race that hardly any people signed up for.
Layne got 1st overall out of all the women running and her teammate got first in her age group.  Go Deer Park.
We had a fun time and it was great to support the teams.  Maybe next year we will branch out and do the 5K.

A Different Cross Country Ski Adventure

Mariane and I decided to try cross country skiing on a golf course in Twin Lakes, Idaho.  It was about a 35 minute drive.  The weather was just right.  Not too cold.

A frozen pond.  We couldn't find how each hole on the golf course connected to the next so we stayed on the same hole and went around in circles a few times.  Then we decided to do some exploring.
Where we went exploring there were no cross country tracks set so we had to trudge through the deep snow.  It was a workout for sure.  We never did find how the cross country tracks connected to each hole on the golf course.  It was a perfect day and a perfect way to get going on our cross country skiing again.
When we finished I decided to keep my skis on and go through the snow instead of walking on the crunchy, icy plowed snow next to the icy road to get back to the car. That worked for awhile but the tips of my skis kept going way under the snow so I took them off.  Then I had the challenge of walking through the deep snow that was up to my knees.  I made it and we had a great time.

Christmas 2021

For Unto Us a Child is Born! Jesus is the Reason for the Season.  That is what it is all about.  Why does the Christmas season feel different?  I don't believe it it presents and decorations.  There is something supernatural that happens as we celebrate the birth of Christ whether we are aware of it or not.  It brings us the joy of the Lord!  Be sure to read to the bottom for a pretty fabulous Christmas present.
We had a pretty low key Christmas.  Mike and I really didn't need anything so we requested practical things as gifts that we probably would have bought ourselves.  Everyone needs more ammo and this sign cracks me up.

We got a few pictures from the Lathrops Christmas celebration.

I love this picture!  Tough guy and his chickens.
My Christmas sock had ear plugs and a gift card from Costco.
Mike got a wallet and a tape measure.

Mike is showing my wrapping job.  I love to wrap presents.
More necessities for my car!
Yep, Mike lost his and now he has a new one.

Our friend Cagney came over and spent the day with us.  We had chili, corn bread and played Jenga.

Will it fall?
And here we go!  Keri, Kristin and Katie had a gift for me.  They wanted to do a Zoom call together when I opened the gift.  I could not figure out for the life of me what it was.  I am usually pretty good at figuring out gifts. We planned the call and I opened the gift and saw this ornament.  Cute I thought.  I love it because I love the Macy's Day Parade, always have.  That parade has the best Santa and when I was younger I thought the Macy's Santa was the real Santa.  Much to my surprise behind the ornament was a gift card for Alaska Airlines.  I started to cry and asked who was going with me. Keri jokingly said you are going by yourself.  No, all three of them are going with me.  We are going to the Macy's Day Parade on Thanksgiving together.  Wow!!!  Even better than the parade is that we will all be together.  Thank you, love you and I can't wait!

A perfect Christmas Day!!!!  Click to see a video of the day!
