Trail of the CDA's June 14, 2013

Sheila had a great idea for celebrating the end of the school year.  A 24 mile bike ride from Kellogg, ID to Wallace, ID.  We met at the church and left 2 cars in the parking lot, loaded the bikes on my rack and took of for Kellogg, ID.
Sheila is getting the idea of making friends with everyone.  I was doing something at my car and there was Sheila talking with Tim.  He is a high school teacher and has a summer job at Silver Mountain.  She got all the details.  Nice man.  Way to go Sheila!
I am not sure why but bridges seem to be great in pictures!   Here we go to Wallace, ID.
We made it to Wallace and visited our old stomping ground.  Ian and Drew were out on the zip lines but we said hi to the owner.

 Red light in Wallace?  HMMMM!
We happened to be in Wallace as they were setting up the carnival and other activities.

The traditional gold fish in the bowl.

More new friends. We were all visiting the Center of the Universe and had a nice conversation.  Before we headed to The Center of the Universe we asked a man for directions to the Center.  He paused and said, "I am the center of the universe."  Sheila said that sounded like something I would say.  What?  We asked the man his name.  Gino...Sheila thought he made that name up. He didn't want to tell us his real name.  Gino told us to be careful because the magnetic pull was strong.  Especially if we have any metal on or in us.  Of course we listed the metal we had.  Knees, ankles, coil in the brain (not sure what it is made of).  We repeated this warning to our new friends here and listed our metal issues.  The tall man said the coil was not in my brain.  What!  I know where it is.  It is in an artery. I didn't said that out loud but Sheila and I were both thinking the same thing.   He and his wife were rather firm about this fact.  Not firm in a positive way either.  Sheila came up with a great analogy.  Cereal box, plastic liner in the box, cereal.  Saying the coil isn't in my brain is like saying the cereal isn't in the box.  Agreed?

We aren't at the Center of the Universe yet.
Here it is! We took turns standing on it.  It is right in the middle of the street so it can be a little dangerous.  Not much traffic in Wallace.  Want to know how Wallace became the Center of the Universe click here.

I was worried about a car that was coming toward me.
Documenting biking injuries is a must.  Bonnie has been initiated in more than one way.  She also took fall on her bike.  She was OK!
Sheila said we must get a picture by the Bates Motel sign.  Ha Ha! Yes, it is a creepy sign!  Not sure I would stay at this place if they maintain it like they maintain the sign.
This was a beautiful ride.  Sheila nailed it.

There is the traditional bridge shot!

As I ride I look around and thank God for this beautiful place.  Amazing!

My photographic assistant Sheila is getting really good at spotting opportunities for pictures.  She called this one.  I think everyone is finally conceding to me taking pictures all the time.  Just let her do it because you can't stop her.

 And Sheila spotted this one.
We wanted to give Bonnie the experience of the Snake Pit.  It is closed but it just so happened Jackie and Andy were there working on the property and they gave us a tour.  Jackie and Andy are siblings.  Their mother died and their father ran the place for a while.  Their father died and it was just too much for Jackie and Andy to keep up so they are trying to sell it.  They were working on cleaning things up because a potential buyer was coming.   Nice, nice people.  Thanks for letting us look around.
Bonnie went right for the bar! :-)
This is a photo hanging in the Snake Pit.  The cougar/mountain lion was right outside of someones window and their cat was watching it and the picture was snapped.
You have been initiated in another way Bonnie.  You know the Snake Pit now.
Bonnie, Sheila, Jackie, Andy
Since the Snake Pit was closed, they are open on the weekends for beer and ice cream, we asked Andy where to go to eat.  Only one place around open and his wife's parents owned it.  The Tall Tree.  Wonder why they call it the Tall Tree?
 Checking out the menu!
The table. Classic small town. We were in Pinehurst.
I am trying to have friendly conversation and look what my friends are doing.  Just like the kids!
Sometimes these little places have fabulous food and sometimes they don't.  We lucked out!  Good food for a good price.
Another fun adventure with Bonnie and Sheila.  Let's keep them coming!  It was a beautiful ride with great friends.  I am so blessed.
