Christmas Eve 2017

Never a dull moment in the Gleason household.  Mike had 2 pounds of frozen deer meat in one package.  He only wanted to use one pound so of course he got the ax out.  Not sure what he was doing in this picture.
Preparing to chop frozen ground meat.
There is the ax on the left and the stump with the meat on it.
I missed the ax in the air but he was successful.  Boom!  Two pounds separated.  One pound ready for Christmas dinner tomorrow.  The other back in the freezer.
We spent the morning at church and for Christmas Eve we went to the Kilgore's.  It has become a tradition for the Gleason's to join this group.  Always fun and we appreciate them so much for including us each year.
Lots of games being played before dinner.
Julie and Jeff's home is decorated like pictures from a Christmas magazine.
 Our hostess!

 The reason for the season.
Mike found some television to watch.
Dinnertime and what a feast it was! Crab, prime rib, ribs and all the fixings that go with them.
We started dinner with a prayer of thanks for the birth of Jesus, family, friends and the great food!
 Nice one Lucy!
Kristin and Lucy! Much better Lucy!
It's a group effort for sure but most of the work falls on Jeff and Julie!
Ahh, beautiful.  It is so great to be around all the cousins of Layne and Lucy and their families.  Just like Christmas should be.  Lots of joy, laughter and love.

  Yum!!!

 Resting and waiting.
 Layne and Kristin!
 Cute picture!

First event after dinner is the pajama exchange for the kids.  Here we go!
Mike got to play Santa.  He passed out the presents to all the kids.

Let the opening begin!  They all open the pajamas at once.

Layne was totally in love with her unicorn pajamas!  She showed them to us over and over!
 So cute!
After the pajamas are opened all the cousins put them on and "SNAP" a picture is taken!
Again Layne showing us her unicorn tail.  Blurry because she was moving.

Finally got a picture of Lucy in her deer pajamas.  She is usually the cooperative one with pictures but not this night.
 Mike, Julie and Kristin!
And now the ornament exchange and swap.  It is so great to be part of the Kilgore's traditions.

The ornament can be taken two times.  Once it gets to the 3rd owner it stays there.

 Oh what fun!!!
Julie gets a calendar from Brandy each year with pictures of the family for each month.  Checking it out here.
Games for young and old after the ornament exchange.  Good ol' fashion family fun!

Another Christmas Eve is complete and now we wait for the best gift ever given, the greatest story ever told. For unto us a Child is Born.
