Cross Country Ski Adventure

Oh my, what a gorgeous day.  Lots of sunshine and good snow and of course my good friends, Peggy and Sheila.  It couldn't have been a nicer day.  Well, if snow wasn't cold that would be great but it is cold! We got pretty hot on the trail and decided instead of bundling up in the beginning and then getting too hot it would be great to tough it out for the first 10 minutes of cold and not get too warm later on the trail.  Next time!
A creek runs around the trail.
Off we go!  Uphill most of the way to our destination.  Gradual but uphill.  We got a great workout.
 Bluer then blue!!!
We took a break now and then to rest or maybe the breaks were for me to catch up after taking pictures.  I can't help myself.

It's about 1 1/2 miles to the cabin.  Sometimes there is a nice warm fire inside but after snowshoeing uphill we didn't need heat.  Sheila peaked in the cabin because she hadn't seen it.  I really think we didn't go in the cabin because we didn't want to take our snowshoes off and try to get them back on. Getting better at it but it can be a challenge in the cold weather when you need to take your gloves off.
 Headed back!

I always try and take pictures into the sun to see what I get.  I love these.  Sun rays and all.  If you click on the picture you can see a purple/lavender color. Just the way the picture turned out, didn't add color.
 This one is my favorite.

This was one of the many times I got behind taking pictures.  You can see Peggy and Sheila off in the distance.  They waited for me! They are so patient.  Patience is a virtue you know.

The return is easier.  The last 1/2 mile (approximately) is uphill on the way back.  We crossed over the white fence and snowshoes came off.  Another beautiful day out in the winter snow.  I just love doing things like this in the winter.
