Spring Dash in CDA, ID 2013

Another fun adventure with the EAOD ladies!  Elite Athletes Only Different.  As usual we must get Team Gleason pictures!  Bonnie, Mariane, Colette and I took the trek from Spokane to Coeur d alene, Idaho to do 5 miles in the cold and rainy weather.  No stopping the EAOD.  Lots of times we think about how we could get out of doing an event when the weather isn't good but we never follow through.  Yes, we have taken "alternate routes" at times.  Sheila had to drive her own car because she slept in.
Group picture before the event.  From the left, Jackie, Bonnie, Sheila, Mandy, Deanna, Colette, Mariane!  Little did we know this would be an eventful day for Deanna and not in a good way.
Checking the gear and getting ready to go!  Mariane looks a little cold.
Lots of fun things for the kids to do before the event.
 Yum!
These two ladies give massages.  We see these booths a lot at running/walking events but we never take advantage of them.  We really should you know.
3,2,1 and away we go!
Lots of people enjoying the beautiful scenery.  I always take scenery pictures at this event so I tried to vary things a bit.

I guess this picture is still scenery.  Sorry Bonnie and Sheila I couldn't resist.  You look fabulous!

This young man had a big backpack on!
If you look closely you can see the line of people on the side of the road.
Mariane running and waving.  She was obviously ahead of us! Actually, she was ahead of the whole group.
Colette made a new friend along the way.  They walked to the finish line together.  That happens to me sometimes and most of the time it is a good thing but not every time.
Sheila and Bonnie headed to the turn around point!
We made it.  We aren't too concerned about time, we walk fast but stop now and then to take a picture.  Maybe it bugs my friends but until they tell me it does the camera will still flash.  Actually, Sheila has developed into my spotter.  She is getting very good a spotting a good picture.  I told her I couldn't pay her for the skill because I don't get paid for blogging.  She will just have to be satisfied with the joy of being involved.
I almost didn't put this picture in because I didn't think it was very good of me. The hat, the way the shirt looks, etc.  I did though because it is me. Sheila and Bonnie look great and we all walked as a team.
You will see a few blurred spots on the pictures.  That is water from the rain on my lens.
This was one of Sheila's spots.  Good job Sheila.
Ok, the grave yard.  Just snapped a picture, don't know why.  Maybe because I have never taken a picture of it before.
Sheila spot again.  Great stance for Mr. Policeman!
 Nice house.
Check out the name of this street.  LOST.  We weren't.
 More guys in uniform.
The look on this man's face cracks me up.  I was taking a picture of the house but he doesn't seem to like it much.  You can leave a comment on this post if you would like to caption this picture.
This was Deanna's day.  A few blocks into the event we saw Deanna and Mandy on the side of the road.  Deanna's knee gave out.  I mean really gave out.  She could put no weight on it.  She told Mandy to go ahead and come back and get her.  It was cold and I know Deanna was freezing waiting there.  We got back to the spot where Deanna was and saw an ambulance.  Is that Deanna in there?  Well, yes it was.  The ambulance guys were closing the doors when I shouted keep the doors open.  We got a look from them for sure.  I said she is our friend.  We took a picture and as you can see she is smiling.  She sat in the cold for at least an hour.  She didn't join us for coffee. She had another place to visit.
 Bye Bye Deanna!
 See you at Urgent Care!
The coffee gang.  This place has the best coffee and food.  Sheila and I discovered it a couple of years ago after doing the Spring Dash.

Sheila had the fabulous idea to buy Deanna a frappicino and taking it to the Urgent Care.  I tried to weasel all of us in the room but it wasn't possible.  We decided not to storm the room.  Sheila went in and delivered the drink and took a picture.

I thought we were supposed to make a face like we were hurting and headed to Urgent Care but I guess I was the only one that got that memo.
There she is.  I feel so bad for you Deanna.  Heal fast and have those tests soon that tell you exactly what is wrong.  Deanna is still smiling.
Never a dull moment with the EAOD.
