The Tuesday Hawaii Adventure

Tuesday was full of activities.  The first stop was Polola Valley.  This beautiful view is brought to you by the Almighty God.

Look, look! There are people surfing the waves.
It was a bit fascinating watching the surfer trying to catch a wave.

This was a beautiful area for sure!
Next stop was Makukona!  Another beautiful view of the ocean and blue sky!

Tang fish, yellow small school of them!

We pulled up to park and saw a no trespassing sign and didn't park in the area.  We went back to it after looking at the area above.  It was a bit confusing.  No trespassing.  Patti said everyone parks there and we did. Then we started a short hike on a trail.  At the beginning of the trail it gave instructions about staying on the trail etc.  No trespassing but stay on the trail.

Off we go to our next destination.  Lapakahi State Historical Park.  This was fascinating!  All along the trail there were numbers and a pamphlet described what each site was.  I didn't take any pictures of 1 and 2.  Site 1 is a stone lined trail.  Site 2 is a burial site.  Site 3 this is where a Hale (house) was.

Here comes 4!

Halua Wa'a, canoes were stored in this structure.

We guessed this was probably a burial site.

A game that were used! Amazing that all this is still here.

Not sure how I missed 6! 7 A well was dug to provide a dependable water supply.
This is how salt was gathered.
There is some salt in the bowls right now.

Site 9 is a Hale.  The stacked rock walls are the remnants of a large residential complex the supported a pole frame structure.
Konane (checkers) on a stone board.
Site 11 is where the fishermen launched and landed their canoes.
Only the rock walls are left from a structure that housed more canoes on site 12.

13 is a religious site where prayers were offered.
On site 14 offerings were left to ensure an abundance from the sea.
This is the last site we went to. This is another religious site.  The walls have been restored on this site.
This sign tells the visitors that they are entering a village that is 600 years old.
One more place to visit today! Hapuna beach.  Home grown pineapple freshly picked at the door.
I forgot what it was like swimming in the ocean.  I loved it!!!  It did kill my waterproof Fitbit!  Guess it wasn't waterproof.  We spent less than 10 minutes in the water.  Won't do that again.  I did get a replacement.

Ahhhhhhh!

Chickens roaming free at the beach!

A blast from the past!!!!!
